Here's an odd Bento but to those of Japanese origin they will recognize it instantly.

It's Shishamo which is a grilled Smelt fish, a delicacy in Japan. It is customary to eat it whole- bones and all (they are very soft bones) and while the fish is full of Roe. It is delicious if you don't mind the strong flavor of fish, it is crunchy, salty and sometimes a bit bitter though I still don't understand why. Often I mask the bitterness with a fresh spritz of lemon- hence the lemon slices which act as a sanitary barrier but also for flavor. There is also a portion of carrot and asperagus rolls, a side of green onion and a side of Wasabi.
